Phase One Complete!!

So at the end of May the team 'rolled in' and started to work on the roofing & yesterday the team 'rolled out' - JOB DONE!

Yes after almost  4 months we have completed Phase 1  - we are watertight & secure - new roofs, new doors & windows, brickwork pointed, chimney saved from falling down! and lots of other bits & pieces in between too numerous to list.

So now Phase 2 - getting valuations etc. on the property, then talking to potential tenants and getting Old Bolsover Yard up & running as craft workshops, gallery & craft courtyard.

Yes, there have been high & low points along the way, but now we can say - "Look at what we have achieved" - from this to this -

So, thank you to all those who have supported us during the last 4 months, but don't go away we still need your support as we move forward.

We filled our last stallholder place yesterday for the Christmas Craft Fayre on December 1st, as part of the Bolsover Christmas Festival & Lantern Parade. More details in future posts, but along with Creswell Colliery Brass Band, it promises to be a 'Grand Day Out'!!

Finally - medical update - went to see the Consultant last Friday and I have had to have my wrist put in plaster. There might be ligament damage. No driving for at least the next two weeks, so you might not see me as much in the coming days, but rest assured I am not wasting my time - plenty to be done - Christmas Fayre, Courtyard Programme 2019 planning to name but two.

More next week ..........

The title of this weeks blog just about sums up me & Old Bolsover Yard.

Firstly, thanks to those of you who sent me messages following my fall last week. The final result is that I have damaged the schaphoid bone in my left wrist & have got a splint on the wrist & have to go back to the fracture clinic on Friday.

The bang on the head has healed, though, sadly, it does not seem to have knocked any more sense in to me!!

So back to Old Bolsover Yard & progress. We are very near to completion, and if it hadn't been for the five windows that had been made the wrong size, which has held up the painter, and putting the final touches to the door furniture (posh name for door handles, locks etc.!) we might be all done.

Certainly things look much more 'spic & span' then when we first entered the Yard in April.

Our Heritage Lottery Fund bid is still being developed, and we are in the process of collecting 'Letters of Support' from local organisations. At a recent meeting with the HLF team we were joined by two people from times past, who had popped in to lend their support!!

Elsewhere in our planning, we continue to do work on our Christmas Craft Fayre  as part of the Bolsover Christmas Festival & Lantern Parade, and on the Courtyard Programme 2019.

Last Saturday we went to the Tapton Lock Festival & met several people who are interested in taking part in the Programme, and this weekend we are off to the Derbyshire Woodland Festival at Elvaston Castle to hopefully interest more people.

Just as soon as we have signed off on the building work, we will be able to get the Valuer in to help with rental costs etc. & then be able to contact those of you who have expressed an interest in renting space. Sorry if you think we have forgotten about you, but 'we haven't', it is just that we have not had anything  positive to tell you

So, I will leave you with a couple of photos of part of the 'new look' Old Bolsover Yard.

Until next week ....

Hope to be back soon

So, on Monday the last of the doors arrived from the joiners, and 2 builders, 1 painter & the 'boss' turned up on site. Looking good! Some doors & window frames got fitted & undercoated.

Tuesday - no wasp nests this week - but the full team back on site again today & more doors get fitted and undercoated, and with the promise of some Bay Tree green paint later in the day. Also they are going to have a go at getting the last doors - onto the workshop - later in the day.

Also the electrician is back from holiday & comes to see what has happened with the power to the units. Problem soon found & 'let there be light etc.'. While he is there he fits the last switch in the big workshop - job done!!

Left my visit to the site until late afternoon today, to get maximum photo opportunities to add to this blog. Oh dear!! - no sign of any builders, no green paint & no big doors hanging in total splendour!

So, let's see what happens in the rest of the week.

Meanwhile, we have been working on other parts of the project. I have finished the financial spreadsheets, so we now know where we are with the money. We have sent out some more invites to people & organisation's for the 'Courtyard Programme 2019' and look forward to their reply.

On Friday, I am having a meeting with the Heritage Lottery Fund team, who are guiding us through the application process, and then on Saturday I am meeting with Councillor Sue Statter, to have a 'catch-up'.

Other than that life goes on apace, and we look forward to telling you in next weeks blog that we are all 'doored, windowed & painted.

Finally, I noticed earlier today, that we are now over 150 people who have 'liked' the Facebook page, with 35 new 'likers' this week.

I hope that you are enjoying following our journey, through the weekly blog, and thank you to you all for your continued support, it is much appreciated.

Finally - just a few pictures to show you the new doors - we think they will look really good when they are finally painted.

Bye for now.
