I do hope that you are all having a good week? As always there's been lots going on at Old Bolsover Yard and we are also busy in the background planning for our future too.

If you follow us on Facebook you may have seen the recent post asking for feedback on our opening hours. With Christmas creeping over the horizon we would like to help with all your Christmas Shopping. Wouldn't it be great to shop locally for all your Christmas presents and support small local businesses too?
We're looking to review our hours and are considering opening either late night or some Sundays or maybe both if the demand is there. Please do get in touch and let us know your thoughts.

Ohh Bee Hive

Ohh Bee Hive are the latest makers to join us in The Gallery. Jess and Paul are natural bee keepers bringing you Raw Honey and Natural Skincare with a number of their products available to purchase from Old Bolsover Yard. To find out more about how Ohh Bee Hive work in harmony with skin, body and nature you can visit their website here.

As well as fantastic beeswax products Ohh Bee Hive also offer Bee Keeper Experiences where you will be taken inside a working beehive to discover the world of Honeybees.

Baroness Bolsover

The Baroness of Bolsover has been spotted recently at Old Bolsover Yard and this weekend she will hopefully be having her first 'sewing lesson' with Molly Felicity Designs. Over the last few months the Baroness has been seen appearing more in public and we are pleased to be welcoming her to Old Bolsover Yard over the coming weeks.

I'd like to start this week's blog with a personal thank you to Carol and all the members of The Salvation Army Band who joined us on Saturday for an extra date in our Courtyard Programme. The Courtyard was filled with the wonderful sound of Brass Band Music, something that I know Adrian would have loved. Dad was always a fan of Brass Band music and I was grateful to the band for playing The Old Rugged Cross, a family favourite, even if I did get a little teary. Fingers crossed that The Salvation Army Band will be able to join us again for another event next year.

As fell as the fabulous music The Salvation Army also provided lots of fun activities for everyone to get involved with.

Her work is fantastic and the on location shoots that she does just capture that moment. To find out more you can visit Adele's website here. Thank you for your support

Molly Felicity Designs would like to express a big thank you to all who came on Saturday to the Commit to Knit event and pledged to make something for Charity. Any items that are brought to The Fabric Den will be going to Chesterfield Royal Hospital. They are always grateful for knitted items with the Neonatal Unit particularly needing Cardigans, Blankets, Cuddle Cloths and Hats. Unfortunately they are unable to use booties or mittens due to little fingers. Items are being accepted up until the end of October so if you weren't able to make it on Saturday to 'Commit to Knit' but would still like to get involved there's still time.

Courtyard Saturday  Programme

Picture
An extra date has been added to this year's Courtyard Saturday Programme as The Salvation Army Brass Band join us on Saturday 14th September .

As well as music to join in with there will also be fun activities for all.

Looking forward

As always there is lots of planning going on behind the scenes and we had a meeting with Baroness Bolsover last week and are looking forward to a visit in October. I'll share more with you next week about this exciting development.

Our calendar for November is starting to fill up as well with something exciting coming to the pop-up shop which I am sure will help you all with your Christmas Shopping. The 30th November will see our next Craft Fair taking place which will also coincide with the towns Christmas Lantern Parade.

Things were getting a little spooky earlier today in The Fabric Den as Sarah was busy working away on new stock for Halloween which will be available in The Gallery from Saturday.

I do hope you have had a good week and will see you again this time next week with more news from Old Bolsover Yard.

Until next time........

Monday 9th September sees the arrival of another pop-up shop with resident tenant Ethos Upcycling setting up in the Unit. As many of you may already know Damion has his workshop on site at Old Bolsover Yard and sells some of his items in the Gallery - this is the first time Ethos Upcycling will be having their own shop. Do come and show your support. We'll be sharing some pictures in the blog next week.

If you have a small business and fancy hosting your own pop-up shop there is still availability, so please email Sarah at [email protected] for further details.

Knitting for Charity

The Fabric Den by Molly Felicity Designs are holding a Commit to Knit event on Saturday 7th September starting at 10am. The aim of the event is to encourage knitters or would-be knitters (or crocheters) to get involved and commit to making an item for Charity.

Thanks to the generosity of UK Hand Knitting there are pattern booklets with ideas of things to make, knitting needles, crochet hooks, and yarn to give away to those who are looking to get involved. If you've got some spare time on Saturday why not call into the Fabric Den to find out more.

Bon Voyage

Cup & Saucer are currently taking a well deserved holiday but don't panic - there delightful teas are still available to purchase from The Gallery which is open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 3pm.
