We've had another new maker join us in January as Alasta Handmade Jewellery can now be found in the Gallery. These gorgeous designs are all handcrafted by Helen in her home studio and would make fabulous gifts for someone special. Or you could just treat yourself!

We are always looking for new businesses to join us at Old Bolsover Yard so if you are a maker and think that you are just what we're looking for do get in touch. Spaces start from £12 per month with no additional commission to pay on any sales made.

We currently have two workshop units available to rent which are ideal for small businesses looking to make the next step from home working to operating from a commercial base.

Unit 3 is 1.98m (width) x 3.33m (depth)

Unit 4 is 1.98m (width) x 3.48m (depth)

Rent starts from £37 per week including electricity.

We've had new businesses joining us and others leaving throughout the year as their own businesses develop and grow. I would like to thank everyone for supporting Old Bolsover Yard and wish each and every one of those fabulous businesses a successful future.

We're taking a break over the festive period to spend some time as a family and recharge our batteries!

I'd like to wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2020 and thank you for all your support during 2019. It is for you, our fabulous customers, that we do what we do.

Our next blog post will also be in January where I'll be starting to share with you some of the exciting things we've been planning for Old Bolsover Yard in the coming year.

The cafe won't remain closed for long as in the New Year it will be back up and running with a new tenant at the helm who has some exciting plans for both the Cafe and Old Bolsover Yard.

On a personal note I would like to thank Michelle for all that she has done as we have brought Old Bolsover Yard to life whilst she's been running the cafe for us - Michelle good luck and enjoy your Christmas!

We hope that Sofia and the team have a good evening and you might just spot Damion if you pop in as he'll be supporting the late night shopping evening himself.

There are so many ways that you can support your local small businesses this Christmas. From asking your butcher how to cook your roast, to buying your veg within walking distance, or discovering an artist or maker from your town.

Old Bolsover Yard will be open Monday - Saturday 10 - 3 in the run up to Christmas, closing at 12 on Christmas Eve.

We will reopen on Wednesday 2nd January 2020.

Last Friday saw a number of small independent businesses in Bolsover getting involved in a random fiver Friday. Building on the success of the recent #fiverfest it allowed shoppers within Bolsover to join in and support the #totallylocally campaign to encourage us all to shop locally. Many thanks to Bolsover FiverFest for organising this event. The plan is for another event in February next year when we will see a fiver fest fortnight taking place which will run from 15th - 29th February 2020. Old Bolsover Yard will be supporting this and looking forward to joining in and supporting our local town.

This weekend sees the Annual Scarecrow Festival taking place at Bolsover Parish Church. Starting Saturday 30th November and running until Sunday 1st December why not visit the cartoon themed scarecrows in the Church before heading into town to spot them around the shops in Bolsover. In keeping with our theme of reduce, reuse, recycle at Old Bolsover Yard we will have Humpty Dumpty coming back to visit us. Last year Sarah from Molly Felicity Designs had great fun creating our adorable Humpty Dumpty Scarecrow. 

Bolsover Parish Church will be serving lunches between 11:30am and 2:30pm with teas, coffees and homemade cakes being served all day between 10am and 4pm.

Come and join the fun.....all welcome

The Christmas Bonanza is part of Bolsover Christmas Festival and Lantern Parade starting at 10am.

Christmas has officially kicked off at Old Bolsover Yard. Thank you to everyone who braved the rain on Sunday to come to our official Christmas Pop-Up Shop Launch. It was great to see so much support for our small local business. This time last year we had only just opened the Gallery after spending the Summer renovating the site so it's nice to look back and see how far we've come.

A big thank you also to Rebecca from Baby in a Box who got a little soggy in our Courtyard showcasing her business. Hopefully we can tempt her back on a warmer day next year for those who didn't get chance to see her practical gift boxes. This Sunday you'll find Baby in a Box at The Fretwell Centre Christmas Fayre.

Our Christmas Pop-Up Shop at Old Bolsover Yard will continue to be open Monday - Saturday 10 - 3 until Christmas Eve.

Planning is well and truly underway for the Christmas Bonanza happening at Old Bolsover Yard on 30th November as part of Bolsover Christmas Festival and Lantern Parade but more about that another time.

I wanted to take the opportunity in this weeks blog to remind you about all the great businesses that we are lucky to support as part of Old Bolsover Yard. Within the complex along with The Beehive Cafe and The Gallery we are lucky to have a number of makers who call Old Bolsover Yard home.

Kirsty and Tracey from Harriet and Lola's Candles are two best friends who have embarked on a journey to help look after the world and the animals that live within it. They pride themselves on the  cruelty free and vegan wax melts and candles that are part of their range of scented products. Whether you are looking for Fresh Linen or Sweet Pea their range has something for everyone.

Ohh Bee Hive is bee farmers Jess and Paul. Artisan producers of raw honey and natural fully safety assessed skincare products meeting both UK & EU regulations. As well as stocking Raw Honey you will also find a range of natural beauty products to choose from too.

Cards by Alison is the latest business to join us at Old Bolsover Yard providing unique gift cards for any occasion. The craft of hand-making greeting cards is not to be underestimated with some stunning designs available as part of the offering.

Saturday 26th October - The Gallery, Ethos Upcycling and The Fabric Den will be shut from Saturday 26th October opening again on Monday 4th November. The Beehive Cafe, Cup & Saucer, and Crafted by Us will be trading as usual.

Wednesday 6th November - Reusable Fabric Gift Bag Workshop - Avoid plastic waste with long-lasting reusable gift bags. In this workshop you will learn how to make a fabric gift bag alternative to wrapping paper - £20.00 (booking required)
